The Academy


Taking place each May starting in 2025, Emory’s Public Scholarship Academy is a four-day gathering which offers a comprehensive program tailored for faculty seeking deeper engagement with both traditional and emerging media platforms. Designed to amplify the visibility and impact of their research and scholarly work, the curriculum is immersive and practical.

The Purpose

The conference, held at Emory’s Oxford College campus, will help scholars understand the challenges presented by the evolving public conversation while also giving them the tools to help effect change and thrive in a larger forum.

Central to the center's core mission, Emory’s Public Scholarship Academy is designed to enable scholars to help elevate the American conversation and bring their important academic accomplishments into the public sphere.  

A Glance at the Curriculum

Participants will partake in workshops aimed at refining how they convey the essence of their research to diverse audiences, whether through print, broadcast, public speaking, or other channels. Each session will be facilitated by a seasoned professional, alongside a faculty member possessing relevant expertise.

Delving into techniques for crafting compelling messages that resonate with non-specialist readers.

Offering strategies to leverage online and social media channels for broader dissemination of research and scholarship.

Introducing tactics for establishing fruitful relationships with mainstream media outlets and navigating interactions with print and digital journalists.

Exploring innovative approaches to connecting with non-expert audiences in dynamic live settings.
